Camp out and see a meteor shower
Can you catch sight of a falling star?
August is the time to see the ‘Perseid’ meteor shower. Why not camp out on a clear night and try a spot of star-gazing?
In the Northern Hemisphere, the annual August Perseid meteor shower probably ranks as the all-time favourite meteor shower of the year. This major shower takes place during the lazy, hazy days of summer. So grab a blanket or sleeping bag and a pillow, and head out to your back garden or make a night of it and go camping.
No matter where you live worldwide, the 2017 Perseid meteor shower will probably be best viewed on August 11, 12, and 13, with the nod going to August 12 as the best night to see them.
